Common Toothache Causes

The discomfort associated with a toothache is one of those things that reminds us we need to take good care of our teeth. When we get lazy with our oral hygiene, our teeth have a way of letting us know about it. There are many causes for a toothache, and almost all of them are preventable!

Sometimes a toothache is caused because food particles are left behind or stuck in between your teeth. The gums can become irritated or even infected. Brushing twice daily, in conjunction with regular use of floss and mouthwash and prevent these kinds of toothaches. If you grind your teeth or chew on ice, you can develop a toothache. If you sustain a tooth injury that produces a chip or a crack, you are almost definitely in for a toothache, so be extra careful and wear mouth guards when engaging in contact sports. Even sinus infections can seem to cause toothaches.

When you feel a toothache, you should see your dentist right away. Sometimes a toothache is an early warning of serious conditions that can be treated and cured.
